The Breeders

Thank you for your interest in our breeding stock!

Our goal is very simple – we want to breed the best racing pigeons in the world. Of course, we are not there yet. We may not be there in another thirty years, but that remains our singular goal. Everything about our program is geared toward breeding better racing pigeons.

You will notice that I said breeding, not importing or reselling or multiplying the birds of others. There are many very reputable people who are in these businesses and I both respect and appreciate the value of their services. Indeed, in many cases I could not have obtained key breeders or lines without the services of these people. However, I am driven in this sport by a desire to be a breeder. This means that in the early years we spent a great deal of money and effort acquiring some of the finest genes available in the sport for the purpose of establishing a world class gene pool from which we could work. Once this was accomplished, our efforts shifted to evolving that gene pool. As we move forward in this regard, the famous birds that are the foundations of our lines become more distant in the pedigrees. However, the value of the birds we produce should increase with each succeeding generation if we are to be considered successful in our breeding program.

Breeding is the first priority and consequently that means selling is not. I will not sell a bird I do not believe in, nor will I sell birds before I have had the time to properly evaluate them. Unfortunately, this means that I do not sell squeekers and that sometimes certain lines or pairs have waiting lists. But it also means that I cull over 75% of what I raise and that I will stand behind my birds. It means I test fly almost 90% of what I raise. Not everything I sell will win or will breed a winner. The success rate is probably 1 in 10 at best among the elite pairs of the sport. However, my success as a breeder has to be measured by the success of my customers. If you take care of the birds and do your job, I will work with you to insure that the SHEW birds do their job.

We are very fortunate in the United States in that there are many fine sources for racing pigeon breeding stock. We do not claim that we are the best or that our methods are the only way to breed or fly the birds. We are simply doing what we believe works and are willing to share it with those who are interested.
