The first group was aggressively tested out to 60 miles (which was flown September 1st). The group started out with well over 100 birds. There was a conscious effort NOT to train them as a group, but rather to test them as individuals. For example they were never loft flown. The first Test Race of this group (which represents less than the top 20% of those starting) had their  test race Saturday September 8th from Corning, CA (118 miles).

Listed here are the birds that have returned from the 118 mile test race. There may be additional birds added if they return before 9PM Pacific Daylight Time Sunday September 9th. Pedigrees of these birds are here along with others in the test group which are not yet back. It was a very difficult test. Only two birds returned (4 minutes apart) in race time and one additional bird arrived 2 hours later. Returns on the day for local clubs races were also low. In my case there was the added factor of the birds being tested and not traditionally trained. The first two birds (70285 and 70272) are both special, having been among the best in the earlier pre test tosses. A sister of 70272 has been the best YB for an area flyer. The third bird in was 70325 whose nestmate (70324) came on day 2 and tied with 70133 for 4th.
